SSL Team Serbia was the first team this year to arrive in Switzerland for training on the water ahead of the SSL Gold Cup qualifiers.
During four intensive days on the water, the team worked on improving key sailing skills and strengthening their cooperation on board. The focus was on manoeuvres, hoist drops, and boat speed. Even though they were the only boat training at the time, the conditions allowed them to fully concentrate on team performance and development.
The team highlighted the support of their international coach from Croatia, who is helping them during the preparation process: “The coach is here. We have an international coach from Croatia, and he’s helping a lot.”
When asked about their approach on the water, the team expressed confidence and belief in their preparation:
“We don’t have any problem with that. I think everything is going to be smooth.”
Although they are aware of the strong competition in their group, they see it as motivation rather than pressure:
“I’d like to say that they are all really good sailors. I think they are maybe all better than us at the paper. But Serbia is always like to do that, always like to win when it’s tough.”
Behind that light atmosphere stands a group of very experienced sailors with great skills and focus: “We have really, really serious and good sailors.”
Looking ahead, the goal of the camp is clear and direct: “The goal is to prepare and to go to Rio.”
After completing this four-day training block in Grandson, the SSL Team Serbia will return to Switzerland next month for the SSL Gold Cup qualification.
